I was being a little sarcastic when I said book 2 would be fun. Simply I'm then determined to learn pianoforte, I put up with songs that I really don't like... And I dearest what you said most the stepping stone, Its like if you practice the piece of work, the reward will be waiting for you... Cheers for the motivation!! PS: I'm on stride to finish book one in most vi months. Book ii looks like it could be a year long project. | | Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 24 Total Member | Full Fellow member Joined: Apr 2007 Posts: 24 | hullo that is almost where i am at.count me in . take to mention the instructor(ex) said i needed a claiming and picked canon(end of book) which i am tryingto refine-didnt find information technology difficult except one department. at the moment 9just today) going back as i have had a intermission and have forgotten a fair bit!~ but i love it especially on my neww pianoforte. | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 70 Full Member | Total Member Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: lxx | I got trough volume 1 not to long ago. I think it costed me nearly 6 - seven months. And now I am in book 2. I similar Roman Holiday and Goodmorning, also The Wals from Musetta. Anyway i'1000 non working in the book anymore , I decided to intermission information technology. I dont observe the songs challenging, I'm doing some harder stuff at present (teacher says im prty astonishing for such a new student), similar préludes and soundtracks from movies. Perhaps later on a while i will go dorsum to volume 2 and just play it speedily then it does not cost me much time. Not much more than that, anyhow. I establish a few pieces that I liked plenty to go back to them at present and once again, merely most were in the "learn it to become the theory/technique down" category. I also have one of the supplemental books and have worked on a couple pieces from that. I don't know if my teacher will have me movement on to book 3 or not. Nosotros'll see. I besides unremarkably have one or ii things not in the Alfred's book to work on, then I get some diversity in my do. -Mak 1889 Mason & Hamlin screwstringer upright Kawai MP-four digital --------------------------- When life hands yous lemons, throw them back and add some of your own. And has the book helped you progress to a college level overall. Just curious to meet where I'll be when book two is consummate. But then, I didn't always piece of work steadily out of it- some pieces, as would exist expected, took longer than others, and there were times when I didn't have things to piece of work on from the volume. As for it helping, yes, I think it did. I was kind of "fumbling" for a while with my lessons- wasn't working out of whatever method book, and but picking stuff I was interested in or that my teacher brought in. But it wasn't structured enough for me to really experience I was making whatever sort of progress at any kind of steady charge per unit. So we re-evaluated and decided to get back to a method book and simply supplement it with other stuff. I actually started with Alred's 2- never did 1, but that was mainly because I already had 1+ years of lessons at that indicate and my teacher felt that book i would have been backtracking too much. Bottom line: I do experience the Alfred'south book has helped. I think (and my husband has said that he thinks I do) I play better at present. I'grand not sure if I would be where I am if I had just kept up with the random stuff like I was before. So far the only i in there I liked was scherzo because you lot get to speed it up as you go along. I like to follow things through though, I'd rather go through the whole thing than think on down the line that maybe I missed something. I likewise do fabers and fabers is faster paced than Alfred's and so it keeps me busy and entertained Fuzzy Wuzzy was a bear, Fuzzy Wuzzy had no hair.>>> Herman Munster | | Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 12 Junior Member | Junior Member Joined: Mar 2007 Posts: 12 | Hullo! Well, I finished Book 1 after about viii months with my teacher. She doesn't require perfection on songs. I'm of mixed feelings on this. On a sure song we'll piece of work on timing and on another song we'll work on something else, but I'm always surprised when she says, OK, we tin can motion on now. I'yard kind of a "work harder," not "piece of work smarter" kind of gal, so that throws me for a loop, a chip. I desire to make sure my progress is proper. I mean, I'thou paying a lot of money. On the other paw, if we work on something for a long time there seem to be diminishing returns. And so, I don't know. I'm not starting on Alfred 2 yet, or the Faber ii (I just finished that one, too). Right now I'k working on Piano Town Lessons 3 (aforementioned as the 7-year-former daughter who comes after me), Robert Vandall's Modal Expressions and a couple minuets here and there. I kind of miss the Alfred. I liked the songs in it. | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: i,553 1000 Post Lodge Member | 1000 Post Gild Member Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: i,553 | Nrrdgrrl, My teacher is the same manner she doesn't look note perfect just she wants the dynamics, rythym and tempo perfect. As she says annotation perfect will come later on and I concord with her on this. Once you have the basic 3 years of music lessons downwards, your perfect notes volition come much easier and by that time that's when you're probably going to play for pure pleasure so it makes sense that at that time you'll have tons of time to spend on polishing your pieces to perfection. I looked at my next slice in alfred's last night and was able to play right through it, I don't understand why alfred'southward two is so piece of cake, maybe it's to engrave the foundation we learned in book 1, I'm so looking forward to volume three. I'm prepare for a challenge. So you only bring it up into the treble staff to play that one note, then move right dorsum down to the F maj chord in the bass staff. -Mak 1889 Bricklayer & Hamlin screwstringer upright Kawai MP-iv digital --------------------------- When life hands y'all lemons, throw them back and add some of your own. I'thousand coming from a unlike series of books so Alfred's is different for me. There are some holes that needs to be filled and in that location are some things I'm ahead on that will be covered subsequently on the book. So I should learn some new stuff but some will exist a review for me. I'm a slap-up laic in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I accept of information technology. | Forums43 Topics212,738 Posts3,185,982 Members105,059 | Most Online15,252 Mar 21st, 2010 | | | Delight Support Our Advertisers |
